Thief smashes through Preston pub wall in £100,000 jewellery heist
An investigation is underway after more than £100,000 of jewellery was stolen following a burglary in Preston city centre today (Monday, October 5).
Police were called at around 4.45am to reports of a burglary at George Banks Jewellers in Lune Street.
Officers attended to find a substantial amount of jewellery had been stolen.
Clayton-le-Woods woman’s marathon was her 188th consecutive daily run
A Clayton-le-Woods woman who has been running daily for six months took part in the London Virtual Marathon on the 188th day of her challenge.
Ramona Joy Mulligan started running at least 5k per day on 1 April, just after lockdown began, to help her mental wellbeing.
Since then she has racked up around 1,000 miles and raised hundreds of pounds for charity.
Sea of flowers left in tribute after death of Fulwood primary school staff member
Dozens of bunches of flowers have been left in tribute to a teaching assistant at a Fulwood primary school.
Mrs McMullen, who worked at Fulwood and Cadley Primary School for 20 years, passed away last month.
Pupils and parents, and staff members, laid flowers which covered benches in the peace garden in memory of the teaching assistant and member of the Parent Teacher Association for the primary school in Black Bull Lane, Fulwood.
Lime Bar Lounge in Penwortham closes doors temporarily due to coronavirus cases
A bar in Penwortham has decided to voluntarily close for a fortnight after two staff tested positive for coronavirus.
Lime Bar Lounge in Liverpool Road said it was ‘putting the health and welfare of staff and customers first’.
Hospitality venues which have Covid-19 cases are not required to close but the owners of Lime Bar said they had decided to close their doors until Thursday 15 October.
Investigation underway after fire in abandoned building near Preston Docks
An investigation is underway after a fire at an abandoned building near Preston Docks.
The incident occurred in what was office units in Chain Caul Way.
Crews from Preston, Fulwood and Penwortham attended the scene at around 6pm on Monday (28 September).
