The closure of a route between Fulwood and Grimsargh has led to gridlock on a route already riddled with roadworks.
A crash on the M6 is also compounding traffic issues during Thursday (16 January) afternoon.
Haighton Green Lane was closed off at the Fulwood end by D’urton Lane on Thursday lunchtime as urgent roadworks began. The Haighton Manor pub said access from the Grimsargh end was maintained. It remains closed on Friday (17 January) morning. An update has been given on how long the closure will last.

With traffic lights already in place in Longridge Road near the Roman Way industrial estate it has led to delays of more than half-an-hour for drivers with peak time still ahead.
Roadworks through Goosnargh, in Whittingham Lane, also mean traffic is heavy between Broughton and Longridge with further roadworks close to the Italian Orchard.
A crash on the M6 southbound near Junction 31 is causing further heavy traffic in and around Fulwood and Broughton.
