Motorists using parking machines at Preston city centre car parks are being warned of scam QR codes.
Preston City Council has released a picture of one of the scam QR codes which pretends to be linked to the ‘paybyphone’ app.

A spokesperson for the city council – who operate a number of city centre car parks – said: “Please be vigilant when paying for parking in Preston city centre.
“Our patrolling officers have located and removed a number of fake QR codes from pay and display machines at more than one car park in the city centre.
“If you are paying through the app, please ensure that you are using the correct app and do not scan any QR codes that have been added to the pay and display machines.”
