There have been a number of road traffic collisions across Preston and the wider county as the first of three days of forecast snow hits.
Preston woke up covered in snow for the first time in 2024 as the cold start to the year continued. There are Met Office, UKHSA and National Highways warnings in place for Preston across this week.
Police said they are responding to an ‘influx’ of crashes attributed to the conditions with drivers urged to adjust their conditions.

At around 7am, police reported a collision on Golden Way heading towards Preston. Meanwhile, in Back Lane in Weeton is currently closed in both directions between Weeton Road and Bradshaw Lane.
Then at 10am, police confirmed they were on the scene of a crash at Boys Lane in Fulwood. That road is closed due to the conditions and the incident itself.
A brief statement from Lancashire Road Police said: “First shift back for Team 3, and this morning we continue to respond to an influx in RTC’s across Lancashire. Please be mindful of the conditions and adjust your driving accordingly.”
