Longridge Town Council has called for more CCTV cameras to be installed after a shop window on Berry Lane was smashed.
Desire Handbags had its window broken during the early May Bank Holiday weekend and this came less than two months after the Co-op supermarket, across the road on Berry Lane, had its cash machine stolen in a ram raid incident.
Councillor Robert Walker, Longridge Town Council’s deputy mayor, said while they did not have control over the CCTV cameras on Berry Lane and surrounding streets, they were pushing Ribble Valley Borough Council to do more when it came to providing surveillance.

He said: “Longridge Town Council does not operate these CCTV cameras, they are run and operated by Ribble Valley Borough Council (RVBC).
“I have asked the clerk to request any footage that may show the incident to pass it onto the police if they haven’t all ready requested it. We have also asked RVBC for more cameras within Longridge.”
The cameras had, for a while, been turned off as they were in a state of disrepair but Cllr Walker said they were now up and running again.
