The M55 is closed in one direction due to a crash.

The M55 is closed westbound between junction 3 for Kirkham and junction 2 for Edith Rigby Way after a collision that was first reported at around 9.04am (24 March).

Blog Preston understands that nobody has suffered any serious injuries as a result of the crash.

There is some confusion as to where the incident has taken place because there delays are between junction 3 and 2 on the westbound carriageway, but police initially reported between junction 2 and 1 – which is now running smoothly.

Blog Preston understands the incident was between junction 3 and 2.

A spokesperson for police said: “We want to update you and let you know that M55 J1-2 Westbound have been closed due to a Road Traffic Collision

“We anticipate that the motorway will be closed for some time, whilst we assess the situation.

“In the meantime, we’d recommend looking for an alternative route, leaving plenty of extra time to get to your destination.”
