A number of fallen and damaged trees are causing problems around Preston as high winds associated with Storm Éowyn hit the area.
The M6 was closed northbound while emergency services work to make trees close to the carriageway safe for drivers.
Meanwhile, a number of trees are reported as down across the city.

The M6 was closed between junction 33 for Garstang and 34 for Lancaster while police ensure trees are safe to pass. It fully reopened in both directions around 1.30pm on Friday.
Elsewhere, Blog Preston readers have reported trees down on Belmont Avenue in Ribbleton and Watling Street Road towards Brookfield. In Fulwood, Preston College has decided to close early due to the high winds.
Avenham Lane in the city centre is also blocked by a fallen tree, near to Ribblesdale Place. The tree has now been cleared.
There’s also disruption in New Hall Lane with police directing traffic due to a fallen tree.
The road is closed from the Hesketh roundabout towards Brockholes Brow while the tree is cleared.
In Penwortham, Pear Tree Hill is blocked by a fallen tree which has splintered across the road.
At Preston Railway Station there’s widespread disruption with platforms one and two cordoned off, delays of more than 20 minutes and cancelled services.
Winds in Preston are peaking at around midday with and are set to ease through the afternoon. The Met Office is forecasting winds of 69mph at 1pm but by 7pm wind speeds should be down to around 37mph.
Jason Kelly, chief meteorologist for the Met Office, said: “Storm Éowyn is now bringing very strong winds to parts of the UK.
“There is potential for gusts of 100mph in exposed locations within the Red warning area. Anyone in these Red and Amber warning areas should listen to advice from local responders and keep up to date with weather warnings for their area.”
Preston City Council has also announced football matches on community pitches are cancelled for this weekend due to the weather.
A statement said: “We are sorry to say that football is cancelled this weekend, 25 and 26 January on all Preston City Council pitches. We know this isn’t what you want to hear but because of the rain, they will be too wet for use. Thanks for your understanding.”
