The annual Preston Pride event returned last weekend, a day to support and celebrate the city’s LGBTQIA+ community.
It was a big hit in the city centre, providing fun entertainment and a day of glitter and colour.
Saturday (28 September) set off with a pride parade, starting at the Adelphi Square, outside the University of Central Lancashire and ending at the Flag Market.

Debs Bradshaw, chair of Preston Pride said she was ‘very proud’ of how the day turned out.
“The overall reception was fantastic. The crowds were even bigger than last year and people stayed until the very end despite the rain.
“Walking up Friargate with the parade was just fantastic, there were people clapping and waving flags then when we got to the Flag Market, it was amazing.”

The day featured a range of informative stalls from local businesses and charities as well as performances from tribute acts such as Steps and the Vengaboys.
There was even a surprise act from a Pink tribute performer, one of Debs’ highlights.
It was organised by just four dedicated volunteers from Preston, who planned the event alongside working full-time.
Debs added: “What makes it for us is seeing young people feel safe in the community. They bring their friends and have a good time expressing themselves.
“It’s something for them.”

The team are planning to make Preston Pride 2025 even bigger and better, with more ‘fabulous’ tribute acts and a larger stage. It is still set to be hosted on the Flag Market, as the city centre location provides a ‘visible and safe’ space.
“I just wanted to add a big thank you to everyone for their continuous support and love.
“Every penny donated is appreciated and spent. We wouldn’t be able to hold this event without support. Thank you,” said Debs.
