Preston City Council has said they have “no timescales” for replacing the cemetery gates after a crash in 2021.
Temporary security fencing is in place after a grey BMW 1 Series overturned and collided with the entrance to the cemetery just off New Hall Lane in February that year.
18-year-old Harron Ahmed of Cave Street, Fishwick, who was a passenger, died in the crash.

Mark Inglis, who runs the Prestonphonebox account on X, shared a picture of the gates and said: “Another year has past since I brought this up and we are still looking at cheap security fencing on the entrance to Preston Cemetery.
“How much does a stone mason and two proper gates cost? We owe it to the families of those resting here.”
A date for repair has not been given by the council.
A council spokesperson said: “We are still awaiting an outcome from our enquiries to our insurance provider and at this stage we have no timescales in relation to the replacement of the gates.”
