Preston and Lancashire issued with further snow warning until Thursday

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice to cause further disruptions across the country, including Preston.

A yellow weather warning is in place till 12pm tomorrow (Thursday 19 January).

The Met office said for most parts of the warning area, ice will be the main hazard: “Showers will affect the warning area, these falling as a mix of rain and hail near coasts, and sleet and snow inland at times, mainly overnight.

This will lead to some temporary snow accumulations at low levels.”

Here is what to expect during this weather:

  • Some roads and railways affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services.
  • Some injuries form slips and falls on icy surfaces.
  • Icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths

Preston awoke to a dusting of snow across the city during Wednesday morning – causing disruption to many travel routes.
