Lancashire Constabulary has welcomed a new Operations Manager, Superintendent Steve Rides, into post at its Preston divisional headquarters.
Supt Rides’ policing career began in 1998 when he joined Greater Manchester Police. He later transferred to Lancashire Constabulary in 2007, where he commenced the role of Response Sergeant at Colne.
He then spent the next few years working in response and neighbourhood policing across East Lancashire as well as on corporate projects at Headquarters.

Following a number of years as a DRI, Geographic Inspector and Response Chief Inspector, he was seconded to the TOM Review, leading on the Unarmed Tac Ops and Response workstreams.
Having spent his 15 years of service with Lancashire Constabulary in the east of the county, Supt Rides says he is pleased to join Preston as the new Operations Manager.
Supt Rides said: “It is a privilege to be working with the people of Preston. In my short time here, I have already been impressed with the diverse communities the city has, from students through to a range of businesses.
“Our role is to make communities feel safe and for them to have a voice around policing priorities and what matters to them most. I will be working closely with partner agencies across the city to help do this.”
He added: “I am passionate about providing the very best service for the communities we serve, tapping into community needs with a focus on supporting our staff to achieve the very best outcomes for them.
“I will prioritise the voice of our communities and continue to work closely with partner agencies to protect those most vulnerable and keep the people of Lancashire safe, and feeling safe. I encourage our communities to speak up on topics that matter most to them, by signing up to Lancashire Talking and working with our officers to keep Lancashire a safe place for all.”
