The statement said: “Speaking on behalf of the residents of Preston, our hearts are with the victims of the devastating floods in Pakistan, leaving millions homeless, destroying buildings and leaving vast swathes of the country under water.
“As the country faces a humanitarian crisis, we support the appeal for aid, and we urge our communities to do what they can for the people of Pakistan at this difficult time.
“We know things are difficult here too, but any small donation will go a long way to help at this time of crisis.”
