Police still seeking further witnesses to Jack Jermy-Doyle death in Preston city centre

Detectives continue to appeal for information in relation to the death of Jack Jermy-Doyle.

25-year-old Jack was assaulted at the junction of Harris Street and Birley Streeton Friday, August 12th at around 2.40am after an altercation with two males. 

Officers have identified and spoken to key witnesses who helped Jack after he was assaulted and later seen in Friargate.

He was taken to hospital but very sadly died on Sunday. His family are being supported by specially trained officers.

Two men – aged 21 and 28 from Preston – have been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding and are on police bail while enquiries continue.

They are still keen to speak to anyone who saw any of the two men described below in the area before or after the altercation or in Preston on Thursday evening or the early hours of Friday morning

Male one, is described as white, approximately 5ft 9ins tall in his late 20s. He was wearing a grey Under Armour baseball cap, a grey shirt with black stripes and black patterned shorts.

Male two, is described as short, of a slim build, with blonde hair. He was wearing a lime green top and shorts.

They also want to hear from anybody who saw Jack in the area before the assault. He was wearing a black and white check shirt over a black t-shirt, blue jeans and black trainers.

Det Insp Bryony Midgley, from the Force Major Investigation Team, said: “First and foremost my thoughts remain with Jack’s family and friends. I can’t begin to imagine what they are going through.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the public for their response to our previous appeals, but am still asking people to come forward who could provide information to help us piece together the events leading to Jack’s tragic death.”

“Whatever information you have – no matter how insignificant you think it is – may be key to the investigation so please come and speak to us.

In a tribute Jack’s family said: “No words can describe the utter devastation we as a family are feeling. Jack was a funny, charismatic, amazing young man who had so much to offer this world and we are truly broken that he has been taken from us so soon. He will forever be in our hearts and thoughts.”
