Storm Eunice and Storm Franklin: Preston hour-by-hour weather forecast

As Storm Eunice continues to batter the North West, new weather warnings hint at further storms next week.

This morning, The UK Government issued a flood alert for the Ribble Estuary to the west of Preston, with high tides and waves forecast for 1pm today (Friday 18 February).

Then, earlier today, the Met Office issued yellow weather warnings for ice and wind across Lancashire for the weekend and early next week as a third storm (Storm Franklin) looks likely to descend soon after Eunice.

Here is an hour-by-hour forecast for the city over the next three days:

Friday 18 February (Amber alert for wind and a yellow for ice)

1pm – 54mph winds expected as the worst of the weather brought by Storm Eunice approaches.

2pm – The peak of the wind – 62mph gusts expected, with a 50 per cent chance of rain and temperatures of five degrees.

3pm – Cloudy – the wind will remain high, with 59mph gusts likely, but the chance of rain will drop to 20 per cent.

4pm – The wind will begin to drop, with 56mph gusts expected. The temperature will remain the same, but rain is more likely at 40 per cent.

5pm – The wind will continue to drop but remain in the high fifties, with the chance of rain falling to 10 per cent. The temperature will be low, with it feeling like -1 degrees.

6pm – As the sun sets, the wind will fall to 46mph, but the chance of rain will rise to 30 per cent.

7pm – It will likely be dry, with the wind continuing to fall but remaining in the high forties.

8pm – The conditions will remain the same, with the wind continuing to fall.

9pm – Conditions will remain the same.

10pm – The wind will fall to 42mph, but it will be colder and expected to feel like -2 degrees.

11pm – The chance of rain will increase to 30 per cent, with the wind falling to 41 degrees.

12 midnight – The wind will fall to 40mph, but it will remain cold. The chance of rain will increase to 40 per cent.

Saturday 19 February (Yellow alert for ice)

1am – The wind will continue to fall but remain in the high thirties.

2am – Dry, with the wind falling to 37mph.

3am – Conditions will remain the same.

4am – There will be a forty per cent chance of rain, with wind speeds falling to 36mph.

5am – The wind speed will continue to fall, with the temperature starting to rise.

6am – Winds will have fallen to 30mph.

7am – Conditions will be better, with clouds and 25mph winds.

8am – Conditions will remain the same, but the chance of rain will increase by 10 per cent.

9am – Conditions will remain the same.

10am – The chance of the rain will increase as the humidity rises to 83 per cent.

11am – Rainy, with a temperature of three degrees, but winds will have fallen to 18mph – humidity will increase to 87 per cent.

12 noon – Rainy, but the wind speed will continue to fall.

1pm – Conditions will remain the same.

2pm – Conditions will remain the same.

3pm – The rain should clear up, with wind speeds continuing to fall.

4pm – The chance of rain will increase to 50 per cent, with wind speeds climbing to 13mph.

5pm – There will be sunny spells and some rain, with winds picking up further and temperatures rising to five degrees.

6pm – Cloudy, with the rain clearing up and wind speeds continuing to rise.

7pm – Conditions will remain the same.

8pm – The chance of rain will increase to 30 per cent, with other conditions staying the same.

9pm – The rain will clear up, but the wind speed will rise to 20mph.

10pm – The rain will return, with a 50 per cent likelihood, and winds will remain in the low twenties.

11pm – Rainy, with humidity rising to 90 per cent, and other conditions staying the same.

12 midnight – Conditions will stay the same.

Sunday 20 February (Yellow alert for wind)

3am – Winds will rocket up to 41 mph, with heavy rain expected.

6am – The wind will pick up further to 45mph.

9am – Conditions will remain the same.

12 noon – It will be rainy, with the wind picking up to 49mph.

3pm – There will be sunny spells, with the wind peaking at 51mph.

6pm – As the sun sets, the wind and rain will remain the same.

9pm – The wind will rise back up to 51mph.

12 midnight – Conditions will remain the same.

Monday 21 February (Yellow warning for wind)

3am – The wind will remain in the high forties, but the rain will clear up, with temperatures resting at 5 degrees.

6am – Wind speeds will pick up to 52mph, with the rain returning.

9am – Cloudy, with the wind remaining in the low fifties.

12 noon – Sunny spells, with other conditions remaining.

3pm – By the mid-afternoon, the wind will have calmed down a little, with 39mph gusts expected and sunny spells.

6pm – The wind will have dropped to 28mph, with a slightly warmer temperature of 8 degrees.

9pm – Cloudy, with wind speeds continuing to drop.

12 midnight – Conditions will remain the same.
