Hour-by-hour weather forecast as Preston braces for Storms Dudley and Eunice

Preston residents are readying themselves for two storms that will strike much of the UK over the next three days.

As Storm Dudley approaches, the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds across Lancashire today (Wednesday 16 February) and tomorrow (Thursday 17 February).

By Friday, the warning will be upgraded to amber as Storm Eunice follows, with wind speeds of up to 55mph expected by mid-afternoon.

Here is an hour-by-hour forecast for the city over the next three days:

Wednesday 16 February

11am – Cloudy, 20 per cent chance of rain and 11 degrees, with wind speeds reaching 37mph.

12 noon – Chance of rain increases to 60 per cent, but other conditions will remain the same.

1pm – Chance of rain will pick up to 90 per cent, with wind speeds of 45mph.

2pm – Wind will increase to 46mph, with rain highly likely across Preston as humidity rises to 92 per cent.

3pm – Rain conditions will remain the same, but wind speeds will increase to 50mph, and humidity will rise a further one per cent to 93.

4pm – Temperatures will drop to 10 degrees, but the wind will remain in the high forties.

5pm – Poor weather conditions will subside a little, with a splash of sunshine expected, but the wind will remain in the high forties.

6pm – Clouds will replace the sunshine, but other conditions will stay the same.

7pm – Humidity will drop to 70 per cent, but the wind will pick up to 50 mph, and other conditions will stay the same.

8pm – Conditions will stay the same.

9pm – Conditions will stay the same, with wind speed remaining in the high forties and low fifties.

10pm – The wind will drop slightly to 46 mph, with other conditions remaining the same.

11pm – Conditions will remain the same.

12 midnight – The wind will drop to 44mph, but other conditions will remain the same.

Thursday 17 February

1am – Humidity will drop to 74 per cent, and the wind will drop to 42mph, with clouds overhead.

2am – Conditions will remain the same, but humidity will fall to 70 per cent.

3am – Wind speed will rise slightly, with other conditions remaining the same.

4am – Wind speed will rise to 45mph, but other conditions will remain.

5am – Conditions will remain the same.

6am – Wind speed will start to drop, with humidity levelling out at 70 per cent.

7am – Conditions will remain the same.

8am – Sunshine is expected, with wind speed dropping to 5 per cent and the chance of rain to 5 per cent.

9am – Slightly cloudy, with other conditions remaining the same.

10am – Humidity will drop to 66 per cent, but other conditions will stay the same.

11am – The sun is likely to make an appearance, but other conditions will remain the same.

12 noon – Cloudy, with the wind speed continuing to drop to 35mph.

1pm – The wind will drop further to 31mph and continue falling for the remainder of the day and evening.

2pm – Cloudy, with a 29mph wind speed.

3pm – Dark clouds, with a 20 per cent chance of rain. Humidity will rise to 70 per cent.

4pm – Humidity will continue to rise, with other conditions remaining the same.

5pm – A 50 per cent chance of rain, but wind speed will drop to 24 mph.

6pm – The rain is expected to stop, but humidity will rise to 81 per cent.

7pm – Conditions will remain the same.

8pm – Dark clouds, but other conditions will remain.

9pm – Conditions will remain the same.

10pm – Wind speed will drop to 15mph.

11pm – Conditions will remain the same.

12 midnight – A 30 per cent chance of rain, with wind speeds starting to pick up.

Friday 18 February (Amber warning in effect)

3am – A 90 per cent chance of rain, with wind speeds rising to 29mph and humidity to 90 per cent.

6am – Conditions will remain poor, with wind speeds rising to 30mph.

9am – The wind speed will rise dramatically to 43mph, with an 8 per cent chance of rain.

12 noon – Winds will reach 50 mph, with a 90 per cent chance of rain.

3pm – The wind speed will rise further to 55mph, with rain expected.

6pm – Conditions should improve, with the chance of rain falling to 30 per cent and wind speeds dropping to 40mph.

9pm – Conditions will remain.

12 midnight – Wind speed will drop to 38mph.
