New bus link changes are set to start later this month – adding new connections between the city, South Ribble and Chorley.

The change will take place on 31 March 2025 and will include a new service for the 115 and 110 bus.

Considering requests from the local community to improve local services, Lancashire County Council has now created new contracts for the buses it supports in the area.

The expansion was made possible by HM Government’s Bus Service Improvement Plan Fund.

The 110 bus from Preston to Wigan will now provide a link between Preston and Leyland via The Cawsey at Penwortham and Farington Moss, replacing the existing service 111.

Holmeswood Coaches Ltd will operate the new service and it replaces the extension of the 111 service previously run by Stagecoach between Leyland to Wigan.

In addition, a new service 115, Preston to Chorley, will replace existing service 12 between Preston and Longton and service 119 between Leyland and Chorley.

The new service partially replaces Services 12, 112 & 119 and is to be run by Vision Bus.

It will extend from Longton to Leyland via Bretherton and Croston, then to Chorley via Buckshaw.

Lancashire County Council also said there will be changes to routes and timetables of a number of other services as well.

County councillor Scott Smith, lead member for highways and active travel, said: “Our goal is to create a more inclusive and comprehensive bus network that meets the needs of our growing community.

“We hope to encourage more people to choose public transport as their preferred mode of travel, reducing traffic congestion and contributing to a greener environment.”
