Members of Ingol Community Primary School’s gardening club have received an award from the Lancashire County Council.
Each week, the Ingol pupils have been growing a variety of vegetables in their school allotment and providing food for their school dinners.

Year six pupil Malek said: “By having your own garden you know where the food comes from and there’s no chemicals or anything being added to it.”
They also have been drying out seeds they have saved from vegetables in the school kitchen to plant outside and turning leftovers into compost.
This mission is a part of Lancashire County Council’s commission Food for Life to help good food available for all.

County councillor Michael Green, cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said: “I congratulate them on achieving the bronze award.
“I would encourage more schools in Lancashire to get involved in the Food for life scheme and there is a lot of support available for those who take part.”
