The winners of Hollywood Bowl’s Directors of Fun competition spoke about their recent struggles and the impact of this competition on them.
Since September last year the Connors family from Fulwood including, Lorna, Dave, Seren and Liam’s lives have changed due to the discovery of Liam’s severe allergies.
Taking an anaphylactic shock to a pasta dish containing egg on their family holiday in Menorca, Lorna said: “Didn’t think they were taking him home from that holiday.”

Since then, Liam has endured eight overnight stays at Royal Preston Hospital, making it a real struggle to go out without a worry of his anaphylaxis.
Following their application of becoming a Director of Fun for Hollywood Bowl, Lorna, from Fulwood, said: “It has meant the world that they were chosen after such a rubbish few months.”
They visited Hollywood Bowl on its opening weekend in early March and tested the bowling alley, arcades, and food, despite their worry.
Through her Instagram, where she documents the challenges of having a child with severe allergies, Lorna added that it was an “allergy-friendly” place and “so easy” to check for specific allergies on the menu.
Lorna said: “If they asked me what winning it meant I would say the world. It is great to have something good to happen to us.”
Hollywood Bowl said on their social media that the family were: “Armed with endless energy, big smiles, and plenty of bowling skills, they were on hand to spread the fun and make our opening weekend unforgettable!”
