Officers are making enquiries after a member of the public reported being assaulted by a cyclist in Preston yesterday.

The online comment, posted by an anonymous user, reported the details of the alleged incident.

The anonymous user said: “Warning to female dog walkers. This morning whilst walking my dog on the Old Tram Road near Todd Lane North at 9.20am I was assaulted by a cyclist.

“We had a disagreement about the speed at which he went past me, which he overreacted turned nasty and culminated in him hitting me across the top of my head.

“In defence I then kicked out at his bike, so he kicked my dog. It was fully witnessed by another lady who was fabulous at supporting me. It has been reported to the police, but this is just a warning to be alert especially as lone women walking.”

It was said the alleged incident took place on Todd Lane North.

The user continued: “I’ve never had a man threaten me and hit me and it’s shook me up considerably.

“The dog was on grass verge. He came past from behind me on other side very fast, it made me jump. The dog was nowhere near him.”

“I shouted idiot. He did a wheel spin on the path, stopped and started his rant. He said the dog should be on a lead, I said it’s a shared space; dogs, people and cyclists all can use and to ring his bell or shout coming through to warn people.”

Lancashire Police said they received the report at 10:00am yesterday (13 January) and are making enquiries about the incident.
