Edith Rigby Way overnight closures begin with bus diversions in place

Edith Rigby Way in Preston will be closed between 9pm and 5am from Monday 13 January to Thursday 16 January 2025 to allow for the completion of roadworks. 

During the closure bus service number 43 from Royal Preston Hospital will be diverted during its late evening and early morning services.

The route will now travel from William Young Way onto Tabley Lane, Tag Lane, Tom Benson Way, Cottam Way to the roundabout at Lea Endowed School, with the return journey following a reverse route.

Diversions also mean that the bus stops on William Young Way at Saddle Inn Services will not be served. 

Preston Bus Ltd has apologised on X for any inconvenience that may be caused to customers. 

Matt Townsend, director of Highways and Transport at Lancashire County Council, said: “A section of the southbound carriageway on Edith Rigby Way will be closed this week to undertake minor footway repairs on Savick Viaduct.”
