Woman arrested after crash closes A59 Longsight Road near BAE Systems

A woman was arrested after a crash that closed a key road between Preston and East Lancashire.

Police were called to a crash on the A59 Longsight Road at around 1.15pm this afternoon (12 January).

The incident occurred between the roundabout with Myerscough Smithy Road and the junction for Abbott Brow, close to BAE Systems.

Three vehicles were involved but the drivers did not sustain serious injuries. A woman has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

A spokesperson for police said: “We were called to Longsight Road in Blackburn just after 1:15pm this afternoon, to a report of a road traffic collision.

“It was reported that a collision had occurred involving three vehicles. A woman in her 40’s was subsequently arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

“Thankfully, the injuries sustained by the drivers of the three vehicles are not thought to be serious.”
