Overnight closures are needed on the M6 at Preston throughout next week.

National Highways North West says ‘essential works’ are needed between Junction 33 and Junction 31 of the M6 in various stages.

All closures are between 9pm and 5am on each night.

A bridge across the M6 at Junction 32 and the M55 link roads – known as the Fylde Higher Overbridge – is seeing its roadside lighting removed.

There is also maintenance to roadside barriers, road surface repairs, litter picking and signage works during the work between Junction 33 and Junction 31.

The closures take place on the following nights:

Tuesday 19 November to Wednesday 20 November: the M6 junction 33 to junction 32 southbound and the M6 junction 31 to 33 (northbound) and M55 eastbound and westbound link roads

Thursday 21 November to Friday 22 November: the M6 junction 33 to 32 (southbound) and M55 to M6 junction 32 eastbound link road.

A spokesperson for National Highways said: “We’re working overnight when traffic levels are lower and to further reduce disruption, clearly signed diversion routes will be in place.

“Our work will create some noise, we’d like to apologise in advance for any disturbance this may cause you.”

Diversion routes will be via the A6 Garstang Road which will be busier than usual during the two overnight closure periods.
