A new business park will soon open next to Botany Bay featuring a drive-through Costa Coffee and a Greggs shop.
The Co-op is also among the first to sign up to Botany Bay Business Park and will open a shop next to Greggs in the public area of the park. The plans are being developed by FI Real Estate Management (FIREM), the international company which uses the historic mill as its headquarters.
Work to build the business park has been ongoing for some time and will eventually see it house a selection of retail, commercial, industrial and manufacturing companies, along with space for start-up enterprises. Among those already confirmed to occupy units is James Donaldson Timber, one of the UK’s largest businesses of its kind.

Outline planning permission – effectively approving the principal of the development – was granted last year and FIREM has now submitted its final proposals for the site.
Its wider plans for the land include transforming the Botany Bay building to house multiple floors of storage units with modern offices on the top floor. It will also have an adjoining building containing a multi-storey car park, rooftop sports pitches and helipad.
Speaking earlier this year, FIREM’s founder and managing director Tim Knowles said: “It’s fantastic to see how much interest is being generated in Botany Bay Business Park. Our site is able to cater for businesses of all sizes, from local Chorley companies seeking more space, to national brands looking for a convenient location to reach the North West.
“We’re able to work closely with tenants to tailor their unit to suit their needs, with bespoke fit-out and plug in and play options, which is really valuable. Being based next to the motorway is also an advantage, with tenants on site able to reach both Liverpool and Manchester easily.
