Preparation work has begun on the city’s Youth Zone on the patch of land between Preston Bus Station and the Town Hall.
Trees were felled from the land on the corner of Crooked Lane and Tithebarn Street during Friday and further clearing work has taken place.

A spokesperson for youth charity OnSide, who will operate the Youth Zone building, said: “Good progress has been made on site and all of the trees have now been successfully felled.
“The site has been cleared and the next stage is to carry out an archaeological survey.
“Over the coming weeks we will be continuing to do a number of preliminary works and are moving closer towards commencing with the build soon.”
When finished the Youth Zone is due to have a rooftop 3G outdoor kick pitch, gym, four-court sports hall, music room, recording studio, climbing wall and much more.
The Youth Zone is due to open during the course of 2025 – more than a decade after proposals were first mooted with multiple sites previously being proposed but then scrapped from Marsh Lane to the Bus Stations’ western apron.
