Preston has been warned to brace for thunderstorms through Saturday.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning as the weather is set for a turn after Friday’s wall-to-wall sunshine.

The warning, the lowest level, runs from 9am on Saturday (8 July) through to midnight on Saturday.

BBC Weather states the thunderstorms won’t reach the city until around lunchtime with Saturday morning dawning bright and sunny.

The Met Office state heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected with ‘flooding of homes and businesses could happen quickly’.

Difficult driving conditions are being cautioned about where downpours happen quickly.

Sunday is due to follow a similar pattern with a calm sunny morning before showers throughout the afternoon but not with the intensity of Saturday’s expected rain.
