A road closure remains in place in Ribbleton Lane as work to repair a burst water main is completed.

United Utilities closed the road for emergency repairs close to the junction with Crook Street.

Diversions are in place – taking drivers round the industrial estate nearby or through Fletcher Road as an alternative.

United Utilities said at 4am on Thursday (22 June): “Good news, we’ve now repaired the burst on Ribbleton Lane and your taps should be flowing again. However, it may take up to two hours for your water pressure to return to normal.

“Just to let you know, we will continue to monitor discolouration in the PR1/2/5 areas over the next 24 hours to make sure that everyone’s supply returns back to normal.”

Water supplies to a number of homes and businesses nearby were affected with water tankers drafted in to continue the water flow.
