The safety mesh fencing on the Lightfoot Green Lane bridge over the M55 at junction 1 has been subject to vandalism and damage by individuals leaving holes in the mesh netting.
National Highways are now taking steps to find a solution and resolve this issue.

They said: “Youths have been pulling the safety mesh away from the bridge, leaving holes in it which I’m concerned about with it being a part of the guild wheel and lots of little ones go across that bridge and wave to trucks.”
“It’s not horrendous at the moment, but if they keep at it the holes will get bigger. Also the bits they have ripped off will be quite sharp. Not to mention, they might actually fall themselves whilst doing it on to the M55.”
