Plans to continue the use of the temporary car park in Glovers Court is set to be given the green light.
The existing car park in 48-64 Glovers Court comprises of 18 spaces.
It has been in use since receiving a temporary approval in 2016 for three years, with works carried out to tarmac the site and set out the parking spaces, erect a boundary wall, inputting pay station machines and payment information boards.
The car park had been operating unlawfully since 2019 when permission lapsed. The applicant proposes to continue the operation of the site to park cars as per the existing arrangements.
The site is located in the city centre and falls within the Winckley Square Conversation Area, and an extension to a primary shopping area and is surrounded by many shops, bars and restaurants.

On behalf of the applicant, agents PWA Planning said: “The site is located centrally within the City Centre, in an area which would benefit from continued parking provision.
“Whilst the site is within a very sustainable location with good access to the Train Station and Bus Station, a significant number of people still travel to the city centre by car.
“As such, it is necessary to ensure that there is a sufficient level of parking available to support the level of visitors to Preston City Centre.
“In addition, the site is already operating as a car park and has been doing so for around 8 years, and therefore it is clear that the site has been positively used by the general public.
