A popular Preston coffee shop is expanding and opening up at the new Bishopgate Gardens site on Ormskirk Road. Brew + Bake was established in 2018 at Preston Markets and since relocating has expanded to include a workspace, plus a community and event space that can also accommodate meetings. We went to find out about their delicious new menu and exciting events the team has in store.
“It’s really exciting,” said Julie Fausset, owner of Brew + Bake, on the day of the launch. “It’s nice that myself and my daughter Rebecca are doing this together. We had the opportunity to expand the business and do the things we had hoped to do in a larger space.”
The interior is modern and stylish with booths and tables in the coffee shop, with space to dine and drink outside as well as in. Brew + Bake have kept elements of their brand from their previous location, including the custom-made concrete countertops created by Julie’s husband and added new elements.
“We wanted to make the space accessible for everyone. People are welcome to come in and use their laptops in our coffee shop and workspace. Some of the residents living above us work from home, so rather than feeling isolated they can come and work here and chat with other people.”

The venue also features a meeting room, which can be hired by local businesses and used for private events, such as christenings and birthday parties.
As before, Brew + Bake will be offering speciality coffee that has been sourced sustainably as well as natural wines which follow a similar ethos, kind to the planet with no added sulphates and bottled as made. As the venue will be open later and hosting events it will also offer craft beers, local gins and rums, and soft drinks that have been ethically sourced.
Equally exciting is the menu, as well as their freshly made sandwiches and popular Buddha bowls which can be eaten in or taken away, Brew + Bake offer full English breakfasts in the morning featuring premium products from local suppliers and at lunch tasty modern English small plates such as curried cauliflower frittatas with curry mayonnaise raita, heritage tomatoes with burrata and homemade pesto and flat iron steak with eggs, roast vine tomatoes and chimichurri. They will also offer cheese and charcuterie boards and on Sundays, a delicious Sunday dinner with homemade desserts, which will vary according to the seasons, will be available between 12pm – 5pm.
