A kind-hearted man from Preston has donated 15 large boxes of military uniforms, helmets, and military accessories to people in Ukraine on the frontline.

John Alty, who runs a stall on Preston’s outdoor market selling military clothing and accessories, received a message requesting help last week.

“In 2014, I helped out, filling four transit vans full of miliary uniforms and items for people fighting in Ukraine,” said John. “I received a message from my contact in Ukraine. He desperately needs help with the supply of military uniforms for people who have joined the war effort.”

John packed up boxes containing uniforms, helmets, field dressings, tourniquets, snowsuits, trousers, jackets, and gloves amongst other items. The items were collected by the charity British Ukrainian Aid to be transported to Ukraine.

Other local charities are collecting and transporting much-needed medical items, toiletries, and food to Ukraine.

International Aid Trust based in Chorley is collecting donations of tinned and packet food, medical items such as bandages, wound dressings, first aid kits, medicines such as paracetamol, ibuprofen, and toiletries such as soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, flannels, sanitary towels, nappies and so on.
