Storm Corrie to hit Preston and Lancashire earlier than expected

The Met Office says Storm Corrie will hit Preston and surrounding areas earlier than expected, from 3pm today (Sunday 30 January).

The yellow weather warning for wind is still expected to be in place until Monday 31 January at 12 noon.

Road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible and some roads and bridges may close.

Power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.

Some damage to buildings and trees, such as tiles blown from roofs, could happen.

Injuries and danger to life from flying debris are possible.
