Cottam’s Hoyles Lane has this week closed for ongoing reconstruction works to the junction with Sandy Lane.
Lancashire County Council began the works on Saturday 12 February, and they will be in place until Sunday 20 February.
The work includes a full-width reconstruction of a section of Sandy Lane and the realignment of the carriageway and junction with Hoyles lane.

A Lancashire County Council spokesperson said: “The highway improvements taking place in this area are part of the planning conditions for the nearby Taylor Wimpey housing development and include the implementation of various highway measures and a toucan crossing.
“Once finished, the scheme will complement existing traffic calming measures intended to discourage inappropriate vehicle speeds and use of Hoyles Lane as a through route.
“This has been a long-term goal for a significant section of the local community who have ongoing concerns regarding the amount of traffic utilising Hoyles Lane as opposed to the preferred route of Cottom Way.”

The spokesperson said the completed scheme provides improved pedestrian facilities inclusive of a new pedestrian crossing in the vicinity of the Post Office.
The works were paused to allow the developers to re-examine part of the scheme, discussing the design with the highways team.
They said: “A modified design was completed, modelled and appraised as part of an independent safety audit.
“But work could not recommence until some communications infrastructure work was completed by BT.
“BT have now concluded their works, allowing the highway improvement works to continue. These works are due to be completed by the end of the week.”
