Local funeral directors H. J. Whalley and Sons have invited residents to hang stars on a memorial Christmas tree to honour loved ones lost in 2021.
The firm, part of Dignity Funerals in Preston, will remember those who have passed away by asking locals to hang a personalised star on the tree, located in the branch grounds and on display until Monday 10 January 2022.

Sarah Fraser, Funeral Service Arranger, said: “We know this time of year can be a particularly difficult time for those who have been bereaved.
“We wanted to give the local community somewhere to be able to remember a family member or friend over the festive period.”
The stars act as a sign of remembrance to those who have died during the past 12 months. They include those who have passed away due to Covid-19.

Fraser said the teams are doing everything possible to support families during this time.
The firm hopes that the tree will offer comfort and reflection to those who have lost a loved one this year.
