Warning issued after copper wiring stolen from Farrington substation

A warning has been issued to those considering tampering with substations after an incident in Farrington on July 23.

Electricity North West contacted South Ribble Police to notify them the substation on Croston Road in Farrington had lost power.

Officers immediately deployed to the area and found that the fencing to the substation had been damaged.

Electricity North West Engineers confirmed that the equipment had been tampered with and copper wiring had been stolen.

Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident as numerous substations and other electrical equipment has been targeted across Leyland.

This caused a loss of power to around 2,000 households and businesses.

The suspect was arrested thanks to members of the public, and enquiries are ongoing.
