A regulator has awarded a local housing association with top ratings for its governance and financial viability.

In its latest regulatory judgement, the Regulator of Social Housing awarded Community Gateway Association (CGA) the highest possible rating for its financial viability and how the organisation is run.

CGA, Preston’s largest social housing landlord, received a ‘G1’ rating for governance and a ‘V1’ rating for viability.

Chief Executive, Rob Wakefield, said: “I’m delighted with the outcome of our in-depth assessment and recognise the hard work and dedication from colleagues across the business to achieve it. 

“We have ambitious plans to continue the great work we do in our communities, and this grading underpins our plans for the future.”

The regulator conducted an In-Depth Assessment (IDA), which involved the scrutiny of documentary evidence, observation of a board meeting, and interviews with the executive leadership team and members of the CGA Board.

It is the second time running that CGA has received the top rating after an IDA. It demonstrates that the organisation is well-led, meets the regulator’s stringent governance standards, and has the financial resilience to deal with a wide range of economic scenarios.
