Further snow and ice warning issued for Preston and Lancashire for Monday night into Tuesday

Preston and Lancashire has been told to brace for more wintry showers.

The Met Office has issued a fresh weather warning for snow and ice.

A yellow weather warning, the Met’s lowest level warning, is in place from 6pm on Monday (28 December) until 10am on Tuesday (29 December).

Forecasters say ‘ice surfaces’ are developing and there will be a little snow in places.

And up to 1cm of snow is possible in a few places.

Hail, ice, sleet and snow fell during Sunday afternoon causing mass traffic disruption on the M6, M61 and M65 in Preston.

Up to 20 vehicles were involved in a mass pile-up where the M61 joins the M6 at Walton Summit, with a number of drivers and passengers treated for minor injuries.
