Police close off Leyland Road in Penwortham due to flooding

Heavy rain has seen police close off part of Leyland Road in Penwortham.

Preston and Lancashire remains in the grip of a weather warning from the Met Office for heavy rain through until Sunday (1 November).

South Ribble Police are on the scene as water floods the road in Leyland Road at the junction with Marshall’s Brow.

The road was reopened shortly before 8pm on Thursday (29 October).

Chris Hough captured these pictures of the water ‘gushing’ off Pear Tree Park.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene to assist with pumping away flood water from Leyland Road.
