Storm Francis is expected to bring winds of up to 60 mph to 70 mph at its strongest, before clearing to the east by midday tomorrow (August 26).

Whilst this isn’t the strongest storm the UK has experienced, the wind speeds are considered unusual for August.

Experts are also warning that heavy rainfall may cause disruption to travel and outdoor activities, with people being warned to plan ahead for such eventualities.

“There will be strong winds and heavy rain, especially in the west of the UK. A number of severe weather warnings have been issued and these warnings can be updated regularly so please keep up to date with the latest Met Office forecast.”
