Heavy and persistent rain in Preston forced the temporary closure of a junction at Preston Docks.

Where Pedders Lane crosses the A583 was closed off by Preston Police due to standing water.

Surface water flooding had seen drivers being forced to turn round.

The junction near McDonalds was closed off around 9.30am on Sunday (28 July).

One lane was closed at Riversway heading out of the city where it meets Pedders Lane.

Anyone heading down Pedders Lane is being diverted down Whinfield Lane.

Police reopened the junction around 3pm on Sunday.

There’s large amounts of standing water reported in Black Bull Lane, Fulwood, near Fulwood Leisure Centre too.

In Leyland a flood warning has been issued by the Environment Agency for Farington and surrounding areas as the River Lostock rises rapidly.

The Met Office has a warning in place for heavy rain throughout Sunday.
