Work is beginning on a major revamp of a Preston city centre shopping centre.
St George’s Shopping Centre has work starting on its Lune Street and Friargate entrances.
Barriers are already up along the Lune Street entrance with banners stating the shopping centre is getting a ‘StGeorgeous’ makeover.
Many units in the Friargate side are empty ahead of an expected redevelopment of a number of restaurants and new units down that side of the shopping centre.
Plans unveiled in April last year showed how the centre is due to look once the refit is finished.
Centre manager Andrew Stringer said: “Our team are working hard on the enhancement to the Friargate side of the shopping centre and we look forward to being able to announce the latest update shortly.
“We appreciate the public’s enthusiasm for the scheme – watch this space.”
