Storm Gareth has begun to make its presence felt in Preston.
The Met Office has a yellow weather warning in place for gale force winds.
Network Rail has announced speed restrictions are in place on the West Coast Mainline until 8am on Wednesday (13 March) morning due to the gusts.
Strong west to northwesterly winds are expected until Wednesday afternoon.
Electricity North West says it has crews on standby ready to respond to any power outages caused by power lines coming down in the winds.

Tuesday 9pm-midnight: 63mph
Wednesday midnight – 6am: Gusts of up to 64mph
Wednesday 6am-9am: Gusts of up to 59mph and heavy rain
Wednesday 9am-lunchtime: Gusts of up to 57mph
Wednesday lunchtime – 5pm: Wind speeds fall to 40mph
Wednesday 5pm-evening: Wind speeds drop to 20mph before around 10mph getting up to 40mph overnight into Thursday
