Two worlds are colliding in a new concept bar in Preston city centre.
Barcadium on Fox Street mixes craft ale with retro gaming.
Punters can sample ale and lagers from award-winning breweries such as Tiny Rebel and Cloudwater while playing iconic arcade games like Pac-Man, Donkey Kong and Street Fighter II.
The bar’s “console corner” also featuresĀ a Nintendo 64 and PlayStation 1, with classics including Goldeneye and Tony Hawk available to play.
Barcadium is run by the people behind Fox Street cocktail bar Kuckoo, and is situated in what was Beachcomber.

Bar owner Richard Powell said: “As a concept we were convinced that retro arcade and award-winning beer had the potential to be a huge hit with our customers, but we have been astounded and indeed humbled with the enthusiastic and passionate response since opening.
“I think that sense of achievement from setting high scores and beating your mates, coupled with a great atmosphere and a fantastic beer selection really lends itself to a unique night out.
“We have tried to recapture that competitive socialising that every child enjoys, and bring it into adulthood with our beer vs arcade arena.”
Barcadium’s soundtrack features 90s hip-hop playing from an old-school turntable. Bar staff encourage requests, especially from gaming winners, and will even play customers’ own vinyl records.
There is no cash in the bar and no coins for games, but instead machine playing time is included in the cost of drinks.
Barcadium have plans for social media leader boards, competitions and prizes, plus an ever-changing beer menu and arcade machine rota.
