Fulwood commuters are being told to expect long delays due to emergency roadworks.
United Utilities is digging up a section of the junction between Watling Street Road and Eastway.
Motorists are reporting gridlock around the junction in all directions, and it’s causing major disruption to the Preston Bus services in the area.
The water company said it is repairing a leak on its water network.
Temporary traffic lights have been put in and delays of around 30 minutes are being experienced.

A spokesman for Lancashire County Council said: “This is emergency work being carried out by United Utilities to restore supplies.
“Utility companies don’t have to seek our permission before going in to carry out emergency works.
“However, we’re aware that it is causing disruption and one of our inspectors has gone out this morning to check on how they are being carried out.”
