Lancashire Police has now confirmed the body found yesterday (February 6) is that of missing Michael Brookes.
A body was found in the River Ribble at around 12.15pm close to Maritime Way near Preston Docks.
Police have been searching for Michael since he went missing from Avenham Park in January.

“A post mortem examination will take place to establish the cause of death but at this time it is not being treated as suspicious and there is nothing to suggest this is anything other than tragic circumstances.
“Since he went missing police and partner agencies have carried out thorough searches and a full investigation into the circumstances. Specially trained officers are supporting Mr Brooks’ family at this time. They were out looking for Michael when the body was found.
