The family of a Preston man who went missing in mid-January are being supported by police after a man’s body was found in the River Ribble.
Preston Police said specialist search officers during Tuesday (6 February) – around 12.15pm – discovered the man’s body in the water close to Maritime Way near Preston Docks.
The body was then recovered from the river and a police spokesman confirmed ‘we believe the body is that of Michael Brooks’.

No formal identification has taken police and a post mortem examination is due to take place to establish the cause of death.
Preston Police said at this time the death is not being treated as suspicious.
The family of Michael Brookes were out looking for Michael when the body was found.
The 19-year-old was last seen at shortly before 2am on Sunday 14 January in Avenham Park.
Since then searches there have been searches of the Ribble and surrounding areas by specialist police units as well as numerous searches by friends and family of Michael.
A police spokesman said: “Mr Brooks’s family are aware and specially trained officers are offering support to them. They were out looking for Michael when the body was found.
“Our thoughts are with Michael’s family and friends at this sad time.”
