A mini retirement village is being created in Penwortham.
Land off Cop Lane, currently where St Mary’s Church Hall stands, has been bought by McCarthy and Stone who are seeking feedback from nearby homeowners on their plans.
They say the homes, providing supported living for the over-65s, will be high quality.
Regional managing director Ian Wilkins said: “We are bringing forward plans to develop a key site in Penwortham which will provide much-needed accommodation for elderly residents. It is in a prime location, just a few minutes’ walk from Penwortham Town Centre, and less than two miles from Preston City Centre. McCarthy and Stone are keen to incorporate this scheme into the local area with high-quality design and attractive landscaping.
“McCarthy and Stone have been meeting local residents and stakeholders to discuss the plans. We believe that involving both local residents and stakeholders in the planning process is the best way to create a scheme that is welcomed by the wider community.”

A public exhibition of the plans for the site – opposite Penwortham Girls School – is proposed to take place at some point in September.
Properties bordering the site are understood to have met with staff from the retirement living provider in recent weeks.
