Highways workers have been forced to postpone roadworks on a major city route due to bad weather.
Rain throughout Tuesday has delayed the resurfacing work on the Guild Way and Marsh Lane.
It was due to shut heading out of the city centre from 9.30am to 3.30pm today (Tuesday) but will now be closed on Wednesday (12 July).
A spokesman for Lancashire County Council said the good weather predicted at the end of last week had not materialised.
He said: “It has been rescheduled for tomorrow when the forecast looks very good.
“We’re hoping to apply the seal, when a short closure will be needed, on Saturday or Sunday morning.”

The road is to be shut from near the Premier Inn at the junction with Corporation Street through to the Strand Road slip lane on Marsh Lane.
A diversion will be in place via Corporation Street, Fishergate Hill and Strand Road.
Highways manager Phil Bard said previously: “The work is to apply a fresh layer to part of Guild Way to waterproof the road and preserve the surface for a number of years, helping to prevent potholes from forming and delay the need for more substantial repairs.
“We’re grateful for people’s patience while this vital maintenance is carried out.”

The northbound side of the Guild Way is not going to be affected.
