The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Preston that includes the potential for torrential rain, hail and frequent lightning.

The warning is valid from midday until 11pm today (Saturday, May 27) and also includes the risk of localised flooding.

Be advised that this could result in some disruption to services and cause longer journey times.

The Met Office chief forecaster said: “Showers are expected to develop early Saturday afternoon over North Wales and the Midlands and then track north or northeastwards during the rest of the day into the evening.
