Flickr user and photographer scrappynw has been exploring inside the Whittingham site – which is eventually due to become a new housing development.

Through spooky halls, abandoned bedrooms and long looming corridors he braved it.

Inside what looks like a former banqueting hall or music hall is particularly haunting.

Plus there’s fantastic views from the old Water Tower towards the city.

This isn’t the first time we’ve featured Whittingham on Blog Preston, Perki blogged for us with some stunning images and we also spoke to a former mental health nurse who used to work in the building. Plus we have pictures of it from the air.

What do you think of the pictures? Did you ever visit Whittingham when it was in operation? Do you have memories of it? Let us know in the comments below
