As part of the forthcoming Guild 2012 celebrations, a 21 mile cycle and walk way has been created around Preston, linking together 5 existing Sustrans routes. The Guild Wheel is intended to provide a 21 mile circular walk that will be a significant area of tourism as well as drawing attention to many of the attractions along the way.
I thought it’d be a good idea to plot the route on a Google map and invite our community to collaborate and add to it. I’ve sketched the basic route and added four pointers that mark where monuments depicting events in Preston’s history will be build for Guild 2012.

Click through to view the Guild Wheel map in a whole window, and then click the edit button. Now add pointers and icons where you think there’s something of interest near the Guild Wheel for people to see.
It can be a quirky pub, a nice cafe or a unique shop; it’s up to you. Hopefully by the time the Guild Wheel is open to the public we can have a really categorical and useful tool for anyone wanting to walk or cycle the route.
You can find out more information about the Guild Wheel from the Lancashire Council website, and also by attending one of the Guild-focused area forums this month.
